How Much Does A Teeth Cleaning Cost in Monmouth, NJ?

Each dental practice has different rates for oral health care services. In Monmouth County,  NJ teeth cleanings range in price from $100-$400, depending on the need for digital x-rays.  If you have dental insurance, the entire visit may be covered. Or, you may be responsible for a portion of the cost.  Sometimes a dental practice may offer a new patient special, with discounted rates.  Other dental offices may offer a membership plan for those without insurance to make preventative, critical oral health care affordable.

Why are Teeth Cleanings Necessary?

The American Dental Association recommends that all people brush at least twice daily for a full two minutes, and floss at least once daily. Unfortunately, even those who follow these guidelines perfectly will be unable to remove all of the plaque that can build up between the teeth, behind the teeth, and beneath the gum.

Plaque is to blame for virtually all oral health problems including tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth infections. When plaque is not removed, your oral health will suffer. In worst cases, failing to have the plaque removed during professional teeth cleanings will lead to tooth loss.

Evidence continues to conclusively prove the link between poor oral health and poor overall health. Poor oral health may increase your risk of chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and problems during pregnancy or childbirth.

Likewise, chronic conditions also increase your risk of oral problems. For example, according to the CDC, those with a history of stroke, asthma, liver conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, or emphysema are at a greater risk of severe tooth loss.

In other words, good oral health is essential for good overall health, and vice versa.

What is Included in a Teeth Cleaning?

When you visit the dentist for teeth cleaning, you’re going to get much more than just plaque removal. Your dentist will perform a complete examination of your mouth, to identify any signs of a cyst or tumor development that may indicate oral cancer. They will inspect each tooth to look for signs of decay. They will evaluate the health of your gums, and recommend treatment if you have gum disease.

During some appointments, you’ll also have digital x-rays, which allow the dentist to see beneath the soft tissues to look for signs of impacted teeth, wisdom teeth that do not have room to erupt, or weakening in the jaw bone, as a result of teeth grinding, periodontal disease, or a bite issue.
